Do You Know About The Low Emission Zone
If you live in and around London you cannot fail to have noticed the signs that have gone up warning that you are entering the Low Emission Zone (LEZ). How many businesses and vehicle owners are fully aware of what it is all about. Some say the LEZ has been introduced without adequate publicity so you may forgiven for not knowing but that will not get you off the penalty for entering if you have a vehicle that is not compliant.
The LEZ affects older, diesel-engined lorries, buses, coaches, large vans and some minibuses. Cars, motorcycles and small vans are not included. The daily charge is either £100 or £200 depending on the vehicle. The penalty for non-payment is up to £1,500 so knowing all about it is an essential for all vehicle owners.
For full details of how it affects can be obtained from the Transport for London website at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/
